The wait is almost over. Tomorrow, February 23, the first wave of over 300 college prospects will touch down in Indianapolis for the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine.
While fans eagerly anticipate the on-field workouts starting later in the week (the 40-yard dashes, the gauntlet drills), NFL front offices and smart Dynasty Fantasy Football managers know that the real work happens behind closed doors starting now.
Before a single player puts on cleats, their draft stock—and consequently, their dynasty rookie draft value—can swing wildly based on two critical factors:
This is the most crucial part of the Combine. Teams get their own doctors to examine every lingering college injury. A "red flag" here can drop a projected first-round running back into day three. Conversely, a clean bill of health for a player recovering from an ACL tear can solidify their top-tier status. We will be watching for leaks regarding the medical checks of top running backs and wide receivers closely.
Teams are allowed up to 45 formal interviews with prospects (15 minutes each). For quarterbacks and offensive playmakers, this is where teams test their football IQ, leadership, and scheme retention. A player who struggles to break down a defense on a whiteboard in Indy will likely struggle on Sundays. Reports often leak about who "aced" their meetings.
