Welcome to Championship Week.
If you are reading this, you survived the semifinals. Congratulations. But the job isn't done. Week 17 is here, and with major injuries to stars like Patrick Mahomes and uncertainties around Jordan Love, the waiver wire is just as critical now as it was in Week 1.
We have analyzed the Week 17 matchups to find the players who can win you a ring.
🟢 Must-Adds for Championship Week
QB: Jacoby Brissett (Arizona Cardinals)
- Matchup: vs Cincinnati Bengals (Week 17)
- Rostered: 18%
- Why He Wins Championships:
Jacoby Brissett has been quietly consistent, averaging over 21 fantasy points since Week 6. But this recommendation is all about the matchup. The Bengals defense has been a sieve for opposing QBs recently.
With Kyler Murray still sidelined, Brissett has full command of this offense. In a game expected to be a shootout, he offers a safe floor with verifiable QB1 upside.
RB: Michael Carter (Arizona Cardinals)
- Matchup: vs Cincinnati Bengals (Week 17)
- Rostered: 34%
- Why He Wins Championships:
Opportunity meets matchup. With the Cardinals backfield decimated by injuries, Michael Carter has taken over the workhorse role. He saw 18 touches in Week 15 and turned them into nearly 100 total yards.
The Bengals rank bottom-10 against pass-catching running backs. In PPR leagues, Carter is a plug-and-play RB2 who could easily finish as a top-10 option this week.
TE: Colby Parkinson (Los Angeles Rams)
- Matchup: vs Atlanta Falcons (Week 17 - Monday Night)
- Rostered: 25%
- Why He Wins Championships:
The "tight end wasteland" has a hero. Parkinson has scored 6 touchdowns in his last 6 games, including two multi-score performances. He has become Matthew Stafford's favorite red-zone target not named Puka.
The Rams face the Atlanta Falcons in a Monday Night shootout to close the week. If you lost a top TE or are streaming, Parkinson is the swing-for-the-fences play you need.
🟡 Contingency Plays (The "Injury Insurance")
WR: Jayden Reed (Green Bay Packers)
- Matchup: vs Baltimore Ravens
- Concern: Jordan Love's Concussion
- Analysis:
Monitor Jordan Love's status closely. If Love plays, Reed is a smash start against a Ravens secondary that gives up big plays. However, if Love sits and Malik Willis starts, Reed gets a downgrade.
Strategy: If you roster Reed, grab Dontayvion Wicks or a pivot option from the late games just in case.
QB: Gardner Minshew (Kansas City Chiefs)
- Matchup: vs Tennessee Titans
- Why: Patrick Mahomes (ACL) is OUT.
- Analysis:
If you are desperate in a SuperFlex league, Minshew is now a starting QB on a team with weapons. He won't be Mahomes, but against a struggling Titans team (2-12), he could fall into 200 yards and 2 TDs.
🛑 Drop Candidates (Don't hold onto dead weight)
It's Week 17. There is no "next week." Use your bench spots to block your opponent.
- Patrick Mahomes (Chiefs): Sad but true. He is out for the season. Drop him.
- Backup Defenses: If you aren't playing them this week, drop them to pick up a handcuff RB your opponent might need.
- Injured Stashes: If they aren't playing Sunday, they don't exist.
Good luck in the finals. Go get that ring! 🏆
